Hi All

Warwick 2 completed the installation of the Exhaust motor in the funnel and I connected up and tested. Its run very well expelling all the stale air on all 4 decks. You can tell the difference after running it for 48 hours. The next fan is the Supply fan to provide fresh air throughout the accommodation area.

More work on the VIP cabin bed/mirror light fittings with all but the bed head lights completed. One cable had to be replaced due to low Insulation resistance.

Work has started on repairs to Power Board B.S1.D3 in the Focsal with the fuse boards removed for repairs and cleaning.

6 Aug 2008

Hi All

This is the first report since June due to the problems we are having. Last working weekend, work on the rewiring of the VIP cabins lighting  continued with all fittings completed in the Day room and both cabins.
In the engine room testing of the Fuel and Lub oil purifier heater were checked and found ok. Both thermostats checked, Lube oil ok but the Fuel oil thermostat is missing.

This working weekend the VIP cabin deck head lighting repairs were completed and tested. Started repairs to the Mirror and Bed Head light fitting. Lighting into the Bosuns store is required but test revealed that the distribution board that feed the circuit will need repairs before work can commence.

Emergency Generator run the test Aft Purifier and all ok. 1735 Saturday night the power tripped out so off in the dingy to shore to reset power up at the house, reset ok but by the time we returned to the ship it had tripped again. Generator started and put to line. A check was made and the problem was traced to the wharf power board but excess has been cut off by Maritime, but I found a way to excess it and the fault traced to the security lights on the catwalk/car park. As we are unable to trace the fault due to excess it has been disconnected. Luckily Derek and others were leaving the ship so they reset the power at the house and all ok.

Warwick 2 has almost completed the installation of the new accommodation exhaust fan motor which I hope to wire up and test next WW

16 February 2008

Hi all

Over the last month I have been working on Test and Tagging all our portable appliances and extension leads. The fault causing the power tripping was found to be water damage and several damaged light sockets. The circuits have been removed from service until repaired and tested.
Work has commenced on the Accommodation Ventilation upgrade to AC power with the accommodation exhaust fan motor the first to be replaced. We will be using electronic soft start units to start the motors.

It look's like another big year ahead.

15 December 2007

Hi all

Over the last month I have been installing equipment to restore the ships Emergency lighting. It is powered from the shore power or AC generator. On failure of the supply the lights will, after 4 seconds, automatically operate from the ships 24 Volt supply via a 1500 watt inverter and if all fails it can be switched over to the ships original DC supply. A three hour test of the system was run last weekend and all ok. Several light fittings were repaired on the main deck laundry. Safety lock out devices board has been installed in the electrical workshop.
The projects for next year are, upgrade of the battery system and the completion of the engine room alarm system second stage.

This is my last report for this year with a lot of installation work completed. My thanks to all that helped especially James and his cable tie work and all our supporters and the generous donations.

Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year

3 November 2007

Hi all

Most of the weekends work was on the upgrade of the ships emergency lights. Installing new cabling and equipment, repairs to emergency light fittings and testing of work done so far. When completed the lights will work on the ships DC or  AC supply and will automatically switch to battery if all else fails.
As at last weekend the Upper, Boat and Bridge decks were working and now all stairs are well lit.
Next weekend the new automatic changeover equipment should be installed, if the bits turn up.

More work on the engine room alarms and battery supply.

Completed installation of new charger and batteries for Engine Room 24Volt supply. Engine room alarm upgrade is now under way.

Repaired and commissioned the garbage compactor.

Repaired and commissioned the supply fan in the main deck workshop area.

Now taking four weeks off.

14 July 2007

Hi All

Just a quick note regarding the shore power, the volunteers work all weekend to install the cable from the building up the hill to the dolphin wharf. We had 8 or so members working on Saturday to pull the cable out, some 250Kg of it and to cable tie to a wire strung up to take the weight, thanks to Locke for hanging off the wall and attaching the cable to the wire with the cable ties. Sunday we had 3 1/2 members complete the job up to the building. Many thanks to all and to the members who donated the funds to supply the cable and equipment.
We are waiting for some of the fittings so the power should be connected by next working weekend,
thank goodness I hear from the ship keepers.

Hi all

Weekend electrical report.

Most of the weekend was spent installing the upgraded PA system. The main amplifier was installed, powered from 240v and backed up with 24v from the ships battery supply. This also supplied 24v to the control and radio units. The Fire alarm will be connected to it next weekend extending the alarms around the ship as we only have a bell in the chart room and alarm in the engine room. At a later date a multi channel amplifier will be installed to feed individual decks.
With the assistance of Mike a power outlet was installed for the PA system, one in the Engineers Wash for hair drying and shaving.  Thanks to Mike for his assistance
We also took delivery of the Shore Power cables so kindly donated.
